Any Moment Now…

Australia’s next Prime Minister?Australia must have an election before the end of January.  It’s up to Prime Minister John Howard (not pictured) to call the date.  The polls couldn’t be worse.  Everyone likes Kevin Rudd (pictured), the leader of the Labor Party.

Yesterday’s updated polls have the Opposition Labor party with a 54% preference, compared to the sitting Liberal Party’s 42% share.  There are always swings in polls - but never has there been such a large, unstoppable swing to the Opposition.

What’s the strategy and thinking in Canberra today? Is Howard waiting for momentum before calling the election? Is he hoping for a small close in the gap?

Here’s a great communications question: What is the PM waiting for?

He is waiting for his fear campaign to work. He see all Australians as being a little stupid.

He and his cohorts believe that they will be able to convince the people that they are born to rule.

According to them, as the opposition is made up of inferior politicians that if given enough time, will make errors that lead to their downfall.

If we follow the present Government belief that we cannot vote in the opposition because they have no experience, there can be no change of Government now or in the future.

I hope they are wrong. What I fear is what they have in store for us if they win again. Last time the unexpected surprise was Workchoices. What is next? the final death of Medicare or worse. The fact is we would really be mad if we trusted them.
